CTE Pathways
What are CTE Pathways?
Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways are structured, multi-year sequences of academic and technical coursework combined with hands-on, real-world experience. They enable students to explore high-demand careers, earn industry-recognized certifications, and gain college credit while in high school.
What is Career and Technical Education (also known as CTE)?
Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs allow students the chance to earn early college credits, industry-recognized credentials and work experience while still in high school. To earn a living wage in today’s economy, all students must pursue education beyond high school. CTE courses teach high school students job skills needed for specific occupations as they complete their academic coursework and pathways. Students will have the opportunity to participate in internships, job shadowing, and work-based learning outside of and on the OCS Campus.
What is a Career & Technical Student Organization?
A career and technical student organization (CTSO) is an extracurricular group for students in CTE pathways to further their knowledge and skills by participating in activities, events, and competitions. Students can gain supplemental certificates and credentials of value by participating in their pathways CTSO. Students have the opportunity to compete and earn state and national recognition in their area of focus.
