Ellinomatheia Exams - Important Announcement – April, 2021

The Centre for the Greek Language announces the final dates of the Examination for the Certification of Attainment in Modern Greek. The Exams will be held in October 2021, replacing the May 2021 Exams, which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Certificate of Attainment in Greek

The Certificate of Attainment in Greek
The Certificate of Attainment in Greek was established in 1998. It is an official test that examines the second/foreign language learners in their various skills in Greek. People who obtain the Ellinomatheia Certification are recognized worldwide for their language qualifications, which can be used to study in universities in Greece and in Europe or for professional reasons. UNCC (University of North Carolina at Charlotte), among other universities in the USA, give 3 credits for Ellinomatheia Examination.

Certificates are issued for successful candidates at any of the following six levels of attainment in Greek: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The levels are linked to the corresponding levels of the Common European Framework (CEFR).

On behalf of the director of the Division for the Support and Promotion of the Greek Language of the Centre for the Greek Language, Mr. Koutsogiannis, we hereby announce the final 2021 dates for the conduct of the examinations for the attainment in Greek. A1 (for children 8-12) Monday, October 4th, 2021 (morning)
A1 (for adolescents and adults) Monday, October 4th, 2021 (morning)
A2 Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 (morning)
B1 Wednesday, October 6th,, 2021 (morning)
B2 Thursday, October 7th 2021 (morning)
C1 Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 (noon)
C2 Monday, October 4th, 2021(noon)
Registration From June 1st to June 28th 2021

Please Note:
* Oral examinations are conducted immediately after the written ones.
So that we can observe safe social distancing practices and for the safety of all participants, please note that the duration of the exam period will be four days, instead of the usual three.
We would like to inform you that the registrations are to be processed electronically through the electronic registration system (available at: GreekLanguage.gr).

Certificate of Attainment in Greek for Professional Purposes
The Certificate of Attainment in Greek for Professional Purposes was established upon recommendation of the European Commission to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs for reasons of compliance of the national legislation to European Union rules. It is intended for professionals who are European Union citizens and who wish to work in Greece and have to prove their proficiency in Greek. Candidates are tested at level A2 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).
