Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering can be both rewarding and enjoyable especially when you are working for Odyssey Charter School. The Odyssey Charter School PTO encourages parent volunteers to help support our students and our school.

If you have time to give, please view our calendar and consider filling one of the following volunteer positions below. Together we can make a difference in the life of a child.

Fundraising Committee Meets throughout the summer discussing and planning the fundraising events for the coming school year. This is the place to bring ideas to the table, discuss new ideas.

Box-Tops for Education (Ongoing throughout the year)
Volunteers are needed a few times during the school year to count/cut Box Tops and Campbell’s labels collected in the classrooms. Volunteers are also needed to help with party arrangements for the classrooms that bring in the most Box Tops.

Campbell’s Labels for Education (Ongoing throughout the year)
Volunteers are needed a few times during the school year to count/cut Box Tops and Campbell’s labels collected in the classrooms. Volunteers are also needed to help with Box-Top’s Chairperson for party arrangements for the classrooms that bring in the most Box Tops.

School Store (Ongoing throughout the year)
The OCS store sells items such as water bottles, magnets, lunch bags etc. These items are sold throughout the year upon request or 30 minutes before each PTO meeting throughout the year. Volunteers will work with committee chair to sell items at the PTO Meetings.

Used Uniform Sales (Ongoing throughout the year)
The PTO sells used school uniforms for $5.00. These items are sold throughout the year upon request or 30 minutes before each PTO meeting throughout the year. Volunteers will work with committee chair to sell items at the PTO Meetings.
Chairperson Needed for Lower School

5K Race/Walk Fund Raiser
AHEPA (the founding organization of OCS) is the main organizer of this event with support/volunteers coming from AHEPA, OCS school administration/teachers and the OCS PTO. OCS volunteers will handle event setup, register runners, organize/run kid’s games, and help serve food and cleanup when the event is over.

Scholastic Book Fair Fall/Spring
Twice a year the PTO organizes and runs a book fair (currently using Scholastic Books). The books are displayed, giving the children an opportunity to review them and create a wish list to take home. The children are then given a time to return to the book fair to purchase books from their wish list. Volunteers are needed to work the book fair during the school day and one evening as cashiers and children helpers.

Teacher/ Staff Appreciation Week
This is a weeklong event held during the day at both the Upper and Lower Schools. It is our way to show the Teachers & administration of OCS how much they are appreciated by the students, parents and PTO. We arrange a special event for them such as breakfast, lunch, gifts etc. Volunteers would be asked to help plan the events for the week as well as help execute the plans during the week of Teacher/Staff Appreciation.

Paving the Way Fundraiser
After our very successful campaign last year this fundraiser will run twice this school year enabling our families two opportunities to donate or stretch out their donation over two payments. Volunteers of this committee will work with the Chairperson to organize and distribute forms, collect envelopes and maintain results for all our families to see.

Picture Day
Volunteers will be needed at both schools for school picture day as well as the re-take day. Volunteers will be asked to assist teachers with students while they wait to have their pictures taken as well as helping the photographers as needed.

Library
Volunteers are needed at the Upper school library to assist the librarian with book collection, distribution and organization.

Field Day
Volunteers are needed to work with school staff to plan day-of events, maintain volunteer sign-ups and day-of check in and additional responsibilities as needed but school staff.
Chairperson Needed

Pretzel Tuesdays (Ongoing throughout the year)
Pretzels are pre-ordered in the fall and winter. Every Tuesday throughout the school year the pretzels that have been pre-ordered are served at both the Lower and Upper Schools. Teachers will distribute pretzels to the students.
