The Basics

Four Things Every Family Should Know Before Applying

Free Public Charter School

OCS is tuition free and funded by the State of Delaware. There are no application fees and no hidden costs.

Open to All Delaware Families

No Greek background required. No academic testing. No geographic restrictions within Delaware.

Kindergarten Through Grade 12

OCS serves students from Kindergarten through high school graduation on one campus in Wilmington.

Lottery Based Enrollment

If more families apply than seats are available, placement is determined by a fair, state administered electronic lottery.

Preparation

What You Need Before You Apply

Incomplete applications are the single biggest operational problem in the admissions process. Having everything ready before you start will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes and ensure your application is complete and entered in the lottery.

Pro Tip

The online application takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes when you have this information ready. Starting without it may result in an incomplete application that is not entered in the lottery.

Your Pre-Application Checklist

Your child's full legal name and date of birth

Your Delaware home address.

This must be your primary residence. Rental, vacation, and business addresses do not qualify.

Your child's current school and grade.

You are applying for the next consecutive grade your child is being promoted into.

Proof of Delaware public school registration.

If your child is not currently enrolled in a Delaware public school, you must register at your School of Residence first. This is required by state law (Senate Bill 82) before your application can be completed.

For Kindergarten applicants:

Confirmation that your child will turn 5 on or before August 31 of the enrollment year. An official birth certificate will be required before enrollment.

For Kindergarten and Grade 1 applicants:

Your Greek program track preference. Greek FLES, Greek Immersion, or both ranked in order.

Your email address.

Lottery results will be sent by email from SchoolChoiceDE.org. Add HelpDesk@SchoolChoiceDE.org to your trusted senders list now to prevent results from going to spam.

The Process

Your Step by Step Application Guide

Step 1

Register at Your School of Residence if Needed

If your child is not currently enrolled in a Delaware public school, register at your School of Residence before applying. This is required by state law (Senate Bill 82) and must be completed before your OCS application can be processed.

Go to https://www.schoolchoicede.org/ApplyInfo/Odyssey to start your application. Paper applications are available by request from the OCS Admissions Office if you are unable to apply online.

Step 3

Complete and Submit Your Application

Confirm your Delaware residency and select the next consecutive grade your child is being promoted into. For Kindergarten and Grade 1 applicants, rank both Greek FLES and Greek Immersion as a first and second choice. Ranking both options is strongly recommended. Applications submitted after January 14, 2026 will not be included in the lottery. They will be added to the waitlist in the order received.

Your child has been offered a seat. You will have until the acceptance deadline to accept or decline. That date is published on your enrollment timeline.

Waitlisted

Missed the Deadline?

Missing the deadline does not close the door. Families who apply after the deadline are added to the waitlist in the order received. Seats do open throughout the year. It is always worth applying, even late.

Waitlists do not carry over year to year. Families must reapply during the next open enrollment period to be considered for the following school year.
