Summer Excellence

About the Program.

Summer work helps students maintain academic skills during the break and build confidence for the year ahead. Each grade has packets tailored to the skills being developed at that level. Greek language learners will have additional resources for both Immersion and FLES programs.

All packets include parent tips for supporting learning at home, making summer practice engaging and meaningful for your family.

Grades 1–5

Elementary

Rising 1st Grade

Students entering 1st grade will complete literacy and math activities to maintain skills and build confidence before the school year starts.

Rising 2nd Grade

Rising 2nd graders will work on reading fluency, math skills, and language learning with grade appropriate materials and teacher specific options.

Rising 3rd Grade

Students entering 3rd grade will strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, and math fluency with targeted activities.

Rising 4th Grade

Rising 4th graders will build advanced reading and math skills over the summer with challenging comprehension and problem-solving activities.

Rising 5th Grade

Students preparing for middle school will complete a reading log, math practice, and language work designed to maintain skills and prepare for the transition.

All summer work packets should be completed and turned in by Friday, September 26th to your child's homeroom teacher.

Grades 6–8

Middle School

Rising 6th Grade

Students entering 6th grade will begin their middle school journey with summer work designed to prepare them for new expectations and environments. Complete work in all four core subjects.

Rising 7th Grade

Rising 7th graders will continue building on their foundational skills with summer work appropriate for the middle grades, including choices for different math track levels.

Rising 8th Grade

Students preparing for high school will complete summer work designed to prepare them for the transition. Includes teacher-specific materials and math track options.

All middle school students are required to complete summer work in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Greek Language, and Social Studies. Summer work is graded and will be included in students' first interim grades.

Grades 9–12

High School

Rising 9th Grade

Students entering 9th grade will begin their high school journey with core summer work designed to prepare them for freshman-level rigor in all subjects.

Rising 10th Grade

Rising 10th graders will continue their high school studies with summer work appropriate for sophomore-level expectations across all core subjects.

Rising 11th Grade

Students entering 11th grade will prepare for junior-level coursework with summer work in all core subjects to maintain skills and build academic momentum.

Rising 12th Grade

Rising seniors will complete summer work to prepare for senior-level courses, including advanced Greek Studies options for students continuing advanced language studies.

All high school students are required to complete summer work in Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Greek Language. Summer work is graded and will be included in students' marking period 1 grades. Students may also complete service hours over the summer.
