Why Do Bus Stops Change?

On inclement weather days, Odyssey Charter School adjusts bus routes and pickup locations to ensure student safety. Bad weather can make some regular stops difficult or unsafe to reach. Rain, snow, or icy conditions may mean that buses cannot safely navigate tight spaces, complex parking areas, or narrow residential streets.

Your 6-12 student may have a different afternoon pickup location on inclement weather days than on regular school days. It's essential that your student knows both their regular stop and their inclement weather stop before the school year starts.

Safer Parking & Main Intersections

The transportation team moves buses to alternate locations that are safer and easier to access, such as shopping centers and main intersections with better lighting and wider access roads.

Morning vs. Afternoon Changes

Morning pickup times typically remain on their regular schedule. The biggest difference is afternoon pickup locations, which move to safer, more accessible stops.

How You'll Know

When we call an inclement weather schedule, routes automatically shift. Check your email or text messages early on questionable mornings. You don't need to contact us to confirm.

Find Your Student's Bad Weather Pickup Stop

Look for your student's regular bus number below. Your student should know both their regular afternoon stop and their inclement weather stop.

Morning arrivals typically remain unchanged. Your student's morning pickup time should be the same as on regular school days.

Afternoon pickup moves to a weather-safe location. Compare your regular route to your inclement weather route to see where your student will be picked up on bad weather days.

What If Your Regular Stop Isn't Listed?

If you don't see your student's regular bus stop in the inclement weather listing, check nearby stops. The transportation team may have consolidated stops that are very close together into one weather day location.

If you still can't locate your stop or aren't sure which weather day pickup location is yours, contact the transportation office for clarification.

Student Safety

Safety Tips for Bad Weather.

During inclement weather, follow these critical safety guidelines to ensure students are visible and secure while waiting to board.

Arrive on Time

Get to the weather day pickup location on time. Buses may run ahead of schedule if conditions and traffic are clear.

Dress warmly & visibly

Dress warmly and stay visible at your pickup location. Use reflectors or bright colors especially during rain, snow, or darkness.

Watch carefully

Watch carefully for the bus approaching. Bad weather makes visibility extremely difficult for drivers, and drivers need to see students clearly.

Wait in a safe spot

Wait in a safe spot away from traffic. Don't stand in the street or active parking lot lanes while vehicles may be sliding. Follow all bus safety rules.

If your student doesn't arrive home at the expected time on a bad weather day, contact the transportation office right away.
