Uniforms and Dress Code at OCS

Find the current uniform requirements, approved vendors, gym uniform expectations, and dress code guidance for all OCS students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Approved Uniform
Vendors

All embroidered or screen printed uniform items must be purchased through approved OCS uniform vendors: Tommy Hilfiger and Lands’ End.

Families may search for "Odyssey Charter School Delaware" on either vendor website to view approved items by grade level. Previously purchased logo items from Lands’ End, Flynn and O’Hara, or prior approved vendors are still permitted.

Official Logo Patches

For the 2024 to 2025 school year, families may also purchase iron on uniform logo patches from the school for polos purchased through outside vendors. Patches are sold through each school building main office.

Shirts purchased elsewhere must:

  • Match approved polo colors and styles
  • Not include additional brand logos
  • Use the official OCS patch
Dress Code

Uniform Requirements
by School Level

K to 5

Grades K to 5

Lower & Intermediate

Students in Lower School and Intermediate School may wear:

  • Navy blue, light blue, or white embroidered polos
  • Khaki, navy blue, or clear blue plaid bottoms
  • Navy blue polo or ponte dresses
  • Approved jumpers with white peter pan collared blouses
6 to 8

Grades 6 to 8

Middle School

Middle School students may wear:

  • Navy blue, light blue, gray, or white embroidered polos
  • Khaki, navy blue, or clear blue plaid bottoms
9 to 12

Grades 9 to 12

High School

High School students may wear:

  • Navy blue, light blue, gray, or white embroidered polos
  • Khaki, gray, navy blue, or clear blue plaid bottoms

NOTE: Previously purchased long or short sleeved oxford shirts are still permitted for High School students, though new purchases are no longer available.

Guidelines

Dress Code Guidelines

Shirts

Shirts must remain tucked in during the school day. No more than the top two buttons may remain open.

Pants and Shorts

Jeans, joggers, cargo pants, sweatpants, and similar non uniform bottoms are not permitted.

Shoes

Shoes must be closed toe with hard soles and backs. Sneakers, boots, and dress shoes are permitted. Crocs and slippers are not allowed.

Outerwear

Only approved school sweaters, fleece items, and designated school outerwear may be worn during class.

Headwear

Hats are not permitted during the school day. Approved headbands must be solid black, navy blue, royal blue, gray, or white without logos.

Jewelry and Accessories

Jewelry, hairstyles, makeup, and accessories that create disruption or distraction are not permitted. Facial piercings are prohibited except earrings.

Spirit Wear and Dress Down
Dress Down

Spirit Wear &
Dress Down Days

Students may only participate in dress down days or spirit wear days when approved by school administration.

Spirit wear tops may include approved OCS branded apparel purchased through PTO, school activities, or approved school organizations.

Dress down clothing must remain appropriate for an academic environment. Clothing may not:

  • Include offensive language or graphics
  • Reference drugs, alcohol, gangs, or inappropriate behavior
  • Create safety concerns
  • Include excessively torn clothing above the knees

Shorts and skirts must remain fingertip length. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts are not permitted.

Active Days

Gym Uniform Expectations

Grades K to 8

Students must wear gym uniforms and sneakers on active gym days.

Approved gym tops include:

Gray gym t shirt with navy logo

Navy sweatshirt with white logo

Approved OCS spirit wear tops

Plain navy blue mesh shorts or navy sweatpants may be purchased from any retailer if they match approved styles and colors.

Gym uniforms may not be mixed with regular uniform items.

Grades 9 to 12

High School students enrolled in PE or Weight Training change into full gym uniforms during class.

Students not wearing the complete gym uniform must still bring sneakers and change shoes for class participation.

High School students may wear the approved gym sweatshirt over their collared polo shirt during the school day.

High School students may not wear spirit wear on gym days.

Lost and Found

Used Uniform Program

Families may donate gently used uniform items in good condition to the OCS used uniform program.

Used uniform sales are coordinated by the PTO throughout the school year. Items are typically sold for $5 each.

Families with questions about uniforms should contact the administrative assistant at their child’s school building.

Lost and Found

Please label all student belongings before sending them to school.

Students are encouraged not to bring valuable items or large amounts of money to school. OCS is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Unclaimed items may periodically be donated to the PTO uniform resale program or charitable organizations.
