What's Included.
Students entering 7th grade are required to complete summer work in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Greek Language, and Social Studies to maintain skills and prepare for academic success.

Summer reading is required. Students must choose one book from a curated list of 7 titles ranging from Lexile 610L to 930L.

- Graded Project: After reading, students will complete a graded project based on their book when they return to school.
- Content Review: The reading list includes fiction selections appropriate for students entering 7th grade. Parents should review Common Sense Media ratings for each title, as some books contain sensitive topics.

Mathematics
Summer math work reviews the most important concepts from 6th grade to keep skills sharp. Students should show all their work on practice pages and bring them to their math teacher by September 19th.

Fact Fluency Requirement
Students also need to study multiplication facts 1 through 12. Practice using flashcards or online games until facts are known quickly and automatically.
7th Grade Math Topics Covered
- Ratios and proportional relationships
- Writing ratios to describe relationships between quantities
- Finding rates and unit rates
- Comparing and finding equivalent ratios
- Solving unit rate and percent problems
Social Studies
Social Studies summer reading requires all students to read The Watsons Go To Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis.
