Non-AHEPA Nominating Committee

What This
Committee Does.
Odyssey Charter School was founded by AHEPA (the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association). Delaware law allows AHEPA to appoint a defined number of board seats, while the remaining seats are filled through a process overseen by the Non-AHEPA Nominating Committee.
By seeking diverse perspectives and backgrounds, the committee ensures the board reflects the full OCS community and has the expertise needed to govern effectively.
The committee's core work is to:
- Recruit qualified candidates for open board positions
- Solicit applications from parents, teachers, and community members
- Review candidates using consistent evaluation standards
- Conduct interviews with all applicants
- Make recommendations to the board for final approval
Who Can Serve
on the Board?
The board includes seats designated for specific roles. The Non-AHEPA Nominating Committee fills these positions based on the following categories:
Parent Directors
Three seats are designated for parents of currently enrolled students.
The committee strives to have representation across grade levels, from Lower School through High School.
Teacher Directors
Two seats are reserved for OCS teachers:
- One teacher from the Greek Program
- One teacher from a non-Greek Program
Teachers must hold a Delaware teaching certification or equivalent.
Community Director
One seat is reserved for a qualified community member at large, offering the opportunity for others invested in OCS's mission to serve on the board.
How to
Apply.
The Non-AHEPA Nominating Committee opens the application process whenever board seats become available.
