Rising 2nd Grade Summer Work
What's Included.
Your rising 2nd grader will complete literacy and math packets designed to maintain reading fluency, comprehension, and math skills throughout the summer. All summer work should be completed and turned in by Friday, September 26th to your homeroom teacher.

Daily practice of 15-20 minutes is more effective than sporadic longer sessions
Read aloud together
Choose engaging books and discuss what you read
Make math concrete
Use household objects to practice counting, adding, and subtracting
Visit the library
Explore age-appropriate books and attend summer programs
Celebrate progress
Praise effort and maintain a positive, playful approach
Keep it balanced
Mix summer learning with outdoor play, family activities, and relaxation
