What's Included.
Students entering 6th grade are required to complete summer work in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Greek Language, and Social Studies to maintain skills and prepare for academic success in middle school.

English Language Arts
Summer reading is required. Students must choose one book from a curated list of 11 titles ranging from Lexile 600L to 1070L.
Open Summer Reading ListReading Guidelines
- Graded Project: After reading, students will complete a graded project based on their book when they return to school.
- Content Review: The reading list includes fiction and historical fiction. Parents should review Common Sense Media ratings, as some books contain sensitive topics.
- Availability: Many titles are available as audiobooks and through free online libraries like Sora.com (through Classlink) and the Delaware Public Library system.
Mathematics
Summer math work reviews the most important concepts from 5th grade to keep skills sharp. Students should show all their work on practice pages.
Due Date: September 19th
Fact Fluency Requirement
Students need to study multiplication facts 1 through 12. Practice using flashcards or online games and apps until facts are known quickly and automatically.

- Multiplying and dividing whole numbers
- Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals
- Number operations with fractions
Social Studies
Social Studies summer reading requires students to choose one historical fiction book to read.
